Locomobile

A Lokomobil has - like a locomotive - all components of a steam engine, but no drive of its own. Locomobiles are mostly used in agriculture, z. B. as a drive of threshing machines. The usage of horses or oxen was necessary for the transport from farm to farm. Semi-portable engines are used as power station. Swiss Steam Centre has two semi-portable steam engines of Swiss origin: one made by Escher Wyss of Zürich and the other by King & Co. Wollishofen.
